Koh Phra Thong is one of Thailand's last unspoiled coastal locations. With over 15km of largely uninhabited white sandy beaches. The island is relatively large with a total area of around 100km.

Koh Phra Thong is the closest habitable island to Thailand's best scuba diving at Richelieu Rock. It is also one of the few places where you can dive direct from the beach!
Where is Koh Phra Thong?
Koh Phra Thong is located in the Andaman Sea off the west coast of southern Thailand. The middle link in a chain of 3 islands, it is close to the port town of Khuraburi, situated on the mainland about 10km east. Koh Phra Thong is about 550km south of Bangkok and 100km north of Phuket.
Marine Life at Koh Phra Thong
The channel between the two Koh Pling islands has a variety of hard corals and anemones. There are also scattered boulders with crevices where critters hide out.
There is a lot of interesting macro life at the Koh Phra Thong local dive sites. You can find an excellent diversity of beautiful nudibranch, distinctive to the area.
Other interesting species are pipefish, seahorses, juvenile octopus and cuttlefishes and sometimes giant honeycomb whiprays.
